Week #16

Half Share 9.17.21.jpg

This week’s half share includes: red onion, two tomatoes, cucumber, string beans, Hakurei turnips, asian pears, basil, and a Sunshine Kabocha Squash.

Don’t be surprised if your share has yellow or purple string beans! We grow a variety of types. We are excited to share string beans again with y’all and hope you enjoy the color they bring to your dish! If it hasn’t been said before, it must be said now that my favorite way to eat string beans is sautéed on the stove in butter and garlic.

Sunshine Kabocha Squash is a variety of winter squash that brings us much joy - both in appearance and taste. Winter squash can store for a long time if done so correctly, in a cool dry environment. However, we tend to consume our squash before storing is necessary. If you need some ideas for what to do with your Kabocha, check out these recipes.

Asian pears are a treat. When fall rolls around and all of the apple trees become laden with fruit, our little pear tree offers us these gorgeous gems. The sweet, mellow flavor of the asian pear is unique and hardly comparable to any other fruit. We hope you enjoy this tasty treat as much as we do!
